Can someone copy my palm from a photo?
No. A photograph doesn't contain what the reader measures, and the reader only completes a scan for a hand held over it in person. There's also no stored image of your hand anywhere to steal — see below.
What is actually stored?
An encrypted numeric token — your palm signature — and nothing else. The reader captures the combined image of your palm, encrypts it immediately, converts it into that token and discards the picture; no photograph or scan of your hand is retained on the device or anywhere else. That key can't be reversed into an image, is different for every person, and is meaningless to anyone outside the system that issued it. It's the same principle banks use for card data: the sensitive original is replaced by a token, and the token is what moves around.
Is my QR balance separate from my palm balance?
No — there is one PalmX balance. Palm Pay, QR Pay, transfers and bill splits all draw on the same funds, held with our payments partner. That single balance is what lets a split settle instantly between members.
Where does a bill split actually settle?
Wallet to wallet, on the same rails, inside the regulated partner's system. Because nothing leaves for an interbank transfer, each person's share moves the moment they approve the request — and every leg of it is a recorded transaction you can see in your activity feed.
What if I want to close my account?
You can close your PalmX account and request deletion of your palm enrolment at any time — whether you're leaving a campus, changing city or simply done with it. Withdrawal of any remaining balance follows the standard process of our payments partner.
How do refunds and disputes work?
Café refunds return to your PalmX balance, normally the same day. Anything that looks like a duplicate or incorrect charge — including a split request you didn't expect — can be raised from the transaction in the app and is handled with our payments partner under their standard dispute process.
Who is OPay, and who holds the money?
OPay — a multinational financial technology company — is our payments partner and holds the funds, regulated by the State Bank of Pakistan. PalmX operates as a technology product on top of that infrastructure — it is not itself a licensed bank or payments institution, and never takes custody of your balance.
